Cumbancha: World Music

“Listening to music is an excellent way to make a connection with people who are very different from yourself, and it can create a common ground that overcomes the barriers that separate people of different walks of life." stated Jacob Edgar, founder of Cumbancha Records.

Cumbancha, a Cuban word derived from West Africa means musical jam session. Like, Putumayo, it produces many collections of world music to gain connections from various cultures around the world. Since 2006, its goal has been to bring people together through music.

Head of A&R at Putumayo World Music, Edgar stated,“People from all generations and backgrounds are looking for music with roots in cultural traditions.”

Putumayo and Cumbancha help connect cultures through music. All you have to to do is open your ears.
